Works – Archive
Drawing from the rich archive of the Kalamata International Dance Festival, two visual art projects are being created to celebrate the Festival’s 30th anniversary:
Using selected photographic material from the archive, which captures the festival’s 30-year journey, a new audiovisual piece will be created. Moments, faces, bodies, ideas, and movements will serve as the building blocks of this new composition—an immersive experience that brings forth the figures and forms that have left their mark on the Festival’s history. The first screening of the piece will be part of the opening ceremony of the 31st Kalamata International Dance Festival.
Inspired by the posters from the festival’s 30-year history, a new printed visual edition will be produced. This creation will explore the diverse graphic languages that, through the interplay of colors, shapes, textures, and text, have captured the pulse and themes of each year’s festival. This new creation will be printed in various formats and distributed at different locations around the city, offered to the people of Kalamata and festival audiences, celebrating and honoring the festival’s 30-year legacy.
