In collaboration with the Municipality of Tripoli
As part of the programme DANCE IN CITIES OF THE PELOPONNESE, implemented for the sixth consecutive year in collaboration with the Region of Peloponnese, the production Do Birds Dream of Flying? by Fabla Collective travels to different cities across the Peloponnese during the Festival: Corinth, Areopoli, Argos and Tripoli, in collaboration with the municipalities of the cities, as well as at Navarino Agora of Costa Navarino with the support of the Captain Vassilis and Carmen Constantakopoulos Foundation.
Finally, within the framework of a new collaboration with the Piraeus Bank Group Cultural Foundation, the performance will be presented in Dimitsana, in collaboration with the Open-Air Water Power Museum.
The touring performances are made possible with the support of the Regional Union of Municipalities of Peloponnese.
Do Birds Dream of Flying? is a performance in which two artists explore themes of balance, freedom, and limitation through movement and an originally designed set piece.
At the centre of the performance is a swinging and rotating ladder, weighted at its base, which opens up an aerial space usually inaccessible to the human body. Through precise coordination and a keen sense of balance, the performers harness centripetal and centrifugal forces to create the illusion of suspension, flight, and movement through space. As the choreography unfolds, the vertical axis of the ladder appears to extend beyond its physical limits, minimizing contact with the ground and evoking a sense of lightness and freedom.
Their interaction with the apparatus becomes a poetic dialogue between risk and responsibility, reflecting on how we navigate curiosity while caring for the world around us.
