KALAMATA MAIN SQUARE
Do Birds Dream of Flying? is a performance in which two artists explore themes of balance, freedom, and limitation through movement and an originally designed set piece.
At the centre of the performance is a swinging and rotating ladder, weighted at its base, which opens up an aerial space usually inaccessible to the human body. Through precise coordination and a keen sense of balance, the performers harness centripetal and centrifugal forces to create the illusion of suspension, flight, and movement through space. As the choreography unfolds, the vertical axis of the ladder appears to extend beyond its physical limits, minimizing contact with the ground and evoking a sense of lightness and freedom.
Their interaction with the apparatus becomes a poetic dialogue between risk and responsibility, reflecting on how we navigate curiosity while caring for the world around us.
