Participation in the CANAL 2026 programme.
As part of the collaboration between the Kalamata International Dance Centre and the French Institute of Greece, on 29–30 January, 2026, the Kalamata International Dance Festival participated in the CANAL programme, organized by the Centre National de la Danse (CND). The 2026 edition of CANAL was dedicated to Balkan countries, highlighting contemporary artistic voices from the region.
The Greek participation was realised in collaboration with the French Institute of Greece, the French Institute of Serbia, and the Teatroskop network.
The Kalamata International Dance Festival presented two works by Greek choreographers:
- The Riddle of the Forest, commissioned for the Festival’s 31st edition (2025), created by choreographer Nancy Stamatopoulou in collaboration with photographer Tasos Vrettos
- Mountains, by the group Garage 21, choreographed by Mary Rantou and performed by Evangelia Rantou, which was also presented in the summer of 2025 at the Venice Dance Biennale
The programme was implemented ith the support of Teatroskop, a programme of the French Institute, the French Ministry of Culture, and the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs of the French Republic.
