KALAMATA DANCE MEGARON – FOYER
On Sunday 26 July, a discussion between artists and curators entitled The Unstable Ground of Today’s Dance Practices will take place, seeking to explore the position of the contemporary dance scene within an ever-shifting social, political and cultural landscape.
What are the conditions in which artistic creation is produced today? Why do we do what we do, and what need is the art of our time called upon to express? What issues does contemporary dance dramaturgy choose to highlight, and in what ways does it reflect the current state of cultural production? How do institutions and curatorial practices shape the work of artists? And what do artists expect from curators today — and vice versa?
By opening up these questions, the panel aims to create a shared space for exchange and dialogue: a meeting point for different voices, experiences and practices, where diverse ways of thinking about contemporary dance creation can intersect.
The discussion will be moderated by dramaturg Dimitra Mitropoulou.
