Born in Kavala, she graduated from the Greek National School of Dance in Athens. With an Onassis Foundation scholarship, she continued her studies in New York, where she worked as a performer with international choreographers while also developing and presenting her first choreographic works.<\/p>\n<p>Since 2003 she has been a founding member of Amorphy, a non-profit platform focusing on the research and creation of works that emerge from the collaboration between different art forms. She has choreographed numerous productions including MINTATI (2024), Eleusinian Movement (part of the opening ceremony of 2023 Eleusis \u2013 European Capital of Culture), Synaxis in progress (2023), Conversations (2022), Phrasis (2020), Synthesis (2021), ANONYMOUS (2018), Face to Phase (2017), Memorandum (2013), Memoria Obscura (2012), Dr. Maybe Darling (2011), See You in Valhalla (2006) and Psycho \/ Cycle (2004).<\/p>\n<p>Her works are marked by an interest in interdisciplinarity and intermediality, as well as in the collaboration  between the arts and the sciences. She has conceived and realised choreographies, multimedia installations, hybrid curatorial projects, interactive workshops and participatory works that engage the residents and communities of each specific place and activate various public spaces. Since 2013, a long-standing collaboration has been developed with visual artist Vassilis Gerodimos, in search of a &#8220;new space&#8221; between the visual and performing arts, between stage and backstage, matter and body. In recent years her choreographic approach has focused on the &#8220;analogue&#8221; body, on physical presence and communication, on the notion of community and collective expression, seeking to strengthen collective physical experiences and bonds.<\/p>\n<p>She has been supported by major organisations, foundations and institutions, including Onassis Stegi, the Athens Epidaurus Festival, the Stavros Niarchos Foundation, the NEON Organisation for Culture and Development, the Isadora Duncan Dance Research Centre and the Hellenic Ministry of Culture. Her works have been presented in theatres and festivals in Greece, Europe and the US, including the Greek National Opera, the Athens Epidaurus Festival, Onassis Stegi, the Kalamata International Dance Festival, the Benaki Museum, MIR Festival, Arc for Dance Festival, Peak Performance Festival (New York), Judson Church (New York), Festival at Tanzhaus NRW (D\u00fcsseldorf), SPRING Performing Arts Festival Utrecht, Rencontres chor\u00e9graphiques internationales de Seine-Saint-Denis, Temps D&#8217;Images Th\u00e9\u00e2tre des Bernardines (Marseilles), among others.<\/p>\n<p>In December 2024 she took up the position of Artistic Director of the Kalamata International Dance Festival.\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n\t<div class=\"ult-overlay-close top-right\" style=\"width:80px;height:80px; \"><div class=\"ult-overlay-close-inside\">Close<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>[\/vc_column][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/2&#8243;][vc_column_text]What is the role of a dance festival today? How does the art of dance connect with our times? How does it engage with the community? In what ways can dance provide us with new means of thinking, expressing ourselves, imagining, dreaming in a time of anxiety and darkness?<\/p>\n<p><strong>At the core of the 32nd Festival lies dance as an expression of human instability, uncertainty, endings and beginnings<\/strong>. Bodies trying to maintain balance, bodies that fall, bodies that invent new languages, that don&#8217;t fit into their clothes, that resist stereotypes, bodies that continuously try to adapt, that are called upon to become stronger, more capable, more resilient, bodies that, no matter how much they\u2019ve been hurt before, have never stopped fighting their battles.<\/p>\n<p>In this increasingly unstable world, <strong>art emerges as a pre-eminent space of transformation \u2014 almost a form of magic<\/strong>. Just as magic creates worlds beyond the visible and activates the imaginary, so art attempts to open rifts in reality, proposing new ways of being, understanding and coexisting.
