It explores the spectrum of identity, personal boundaries, and the pursuit of constant recognition within an insatiable system.<\/p>\n<p>Inside a boxing ring and with the audience just a breath away, three female dancers create an otherworldly and feral concert, testing limits and transforming the stage into a voracious arena in which spectacle always takes precedence.<\/p>\n<p>Drawing from an archive of pop images, concert movement material and narratives of personal destruction, <em>Superstar<\/em> attempts to engage with the inner contradiction hiding behind the spotlight, becoming an style=\"\">\n\t\t\t<span class=\"dt-highlight\" style=\"background: #0256F6 !important;\">IOANNA PORTOLOU \/ GRIFF\u00d3N DANCE COMPANY<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Ioanna Portolou<\/strong> studied Fine Art at Central Saint Martins School of Art (BA) and the Slade School of Fine Art (MA,and went on to complete the two-year dance and choreography program at the Laban Centre for Movement and Dance. She later trained in a Body Psychotherapy modality (Core Energetics). Her work combines all three paths of study.<\/p>\n<p>She works primarily with improvisation using the Body Psychotherapy modality for in depth research into authentic movement, immersed in contexts usually emerging from her fine art background. She has been working with composer Anthony Palaskas steadily for 15 years.<\/p>\n<p>In 2000, she founded the Griff\u00f3n Dance Company, for which she has choreographed more than 20 pieces (2000\u20132025). The company\u2019s works have been presented in various theatres and institutions in Greece, including the Onassis Cultural Centre, the Athens Epidaurus Festival, Megaron &#8211; The Athens Concert Hall, and the Kalamata International Dance Festival, as well as internationally. Its most recent works include <em>Porn<\/em>, <em>Risk<\/em>, <em>Elizabeth<\/em>, <em>Kaos<\/em>, <em>Amazing<\/em> and <em>Veritas<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Since its establishment, the company has been receiving steady subsidies from the Hellenic Ministry of Culture and commissions from Greek cultural institutions, thus allowing it to premiere a new work almost each year. They also have a studio space in which they work and present small performances.
