MUSEUM OF CYCLADIC ART & KALAMATA DANCE FESTIVAL
GIVING RHYTHM TO SCULPTURE
For the fifth year in a row, the Kalamata International Dance Festival is joining forces with the Museum of Cycladic Art to organize an art workshop for children on Monday, July 15th, at the Foyer of the Kalamata Dance Megaron.
In this workshop of the Museum of Cycladic Art inspired by the body as a means of expression, dance movements are transformed into dynamic sculptures. Through a combination of lines, shapes, and colors, we are invited to capture the music of a choreography, a dancer’s dress, their poses, and any other details that express the flow of the body for you!
Young participants will be inspired by scenes of everyday life in antiquity, as depicted on the clay vessels featured in the permanent exhibitions of the Museum of Cycladic Art, and will observe the forms of the dancers and the ways in which their movements are rendered.
Using materials such as bamboo, wire, fabric, and paper, we will split up into pairs, synchronize with our partners, and in the end, create our own sculpture.
Catch the rhythm and join us in creating our very own sculptural installation!
- Workshop implementation: Vivian Emmanouilidou, Daphne Kouri
- Number of participants: 30 people (children will collaborate in pairs)
- Ages: 8+
- Workshop duration: 2.5 hours
