An obsessive, endless fight against what is possible, what is feasible, what you and me call differently, what always returns no matter how far you push it away. A fight against your own, personal fears.

IESU ESCALANTE
JACK... A SYMPHONIC RESISTANCE OF A BRUTAL SELF PORTRAIT

24.8.2020 | 21:00
Kalamata Main Square

OUTDOOR IESU ESCALANTE

An intimate journey, an internal battle, where the worst nightmare becomes the best dream. Jack, funny and tragic in his kingdom, is a little crazy but coherent at the same time. He expresses the invisible and changes reality into a fantasy world, where he may be regarded as paranoid but also fearless. Iesu Escalante performs in Greece for the first time with an extremely demanding piece, where explosive and eccentric movements are combined using acrobatics and contemporary dance.

--

Acrobat, dancer, circus and martial artist, Iesu Escalante trained in Mexico and China (Chinese martial arts and philosophy). He then continued his training in dance, theatre, and circus arts in Barcelona and at the National Center of Circus Arts (CNAC) in France. He has worked professionally as an artist and instructor throughout Europe, Mexico, China, and South Africa. The strong influence of Chinese martial arts and philosophy enabled him to develop his unique body language. He is currently professor at the National Circus School of Chatellerault (France) and collaborates with other schools and artists, facilitating workshops and directing his own work.

Performances at the Main Square of Kalamata will take place in an organized and demarcated space, with chairs. Spectators will be able to attend acquiring a free admission pass, in order of priority. The use a non-medical mask is mandatory at the entrance and the exit from the demarcated area, as well as throughout the performance.
